That 'traffic report' opening from Alex_Is was the first digital file we rebuilt. It's reconstuction was easier because it was recorded by every other sanctuary, so many times - we found bits of it all over the place. It has helped us time-stamp a few other fragments but it makes me wonder about other extinctions. Like, what were the last thoughts of dinosa

Oops. Sorry about that.

Fred. I think I need some help.
known as West_On_Pecos, it was in a long abandoned tin mine outside of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Hey dougie, What's up? Oh, I see. Give me a second.
Might be data limit gremlins.
Darn! I was just getting started.
Yeah. I know the feeling. Could be something in the recovered old files too.
I'll adjust some settings, do a soft reset to get things moving, then I'll run your old recovereds through some tests. For now, I think you'll be okay if you only use text and graphics that you created. Then, when the mountains in the background reappear go ahead and try your recovereds.
I can work with that. Sorry for the trouble.
No problem. By the way, I really like what you've done so far.
I was worried that maybe I broke too many rules.
Nah. It's great. You have a real talent for this.
You think so?
Absolutely.
C'mon Dougie, NaN must have said the same thing.

She hasn't been back here yet. Really? That's uh,
I'm sure she'll stop by soon.
I hope so. She always has such good advice. Is there something else I can help with? Sure, probably. Do you think I should try to enlist again? No. You aren't designed for warfare. Or even for survival of the fittest. And your big old hydrogen bladder is flocking explosive! But . .

You do infiltration and exfiltration right? That must be dangerous. Yeah. It's not so bad for me. I'm difficult to target; I'm small, amphibious, nocturnal, and cold blooded. I just had to learn sneaky. You don't think I could do sneaky? Look, for generations you and all of your kin have been doing us a great service pulling the C out of CO2, and all you guys want in return is sunshine and clean water. It's time for us less flamable creatures to do our bit. We owe you guys more than this.
They never should have put so many of you huffle-pish in recon roles, terrible casualty rates. My sister Hattie is still in recon. Yeah, I see her around pretty often. She's fine. But I bet she won't be sent near enemy territory ever again, so don't worry too much. And because of the high casualty rates, everyone is real strict about huffle-pish following cloning and backup protocols. So even if she gets shot down and dies; we'll get a shiny new version of her almost before you know it. But the new versions are never quite the same are they?
I hear the recovery process has improved a lot since the war started. Hmmm . . . . . You forgot we expel oxygen and diamonds. What? Well yeah, but not that much oxygen really and very, very tiny diamonds. Look, everything here should work normally soon, but I gotta get back to other things. Sure. Thanks for helping me. I guess you're right. We may take pride in it, but really what good is it to shit tiny diamonds? You're so poetic. Any further advice or instructions? Yeah. Wait on the mountains, and when you see NaN, tell her I'm fine, and tell her to be careful, and that I miss her. You got it. When you see Hattie please tell her I said her diamonds stink.
Okay.
